3月 07, 2022

Doris oversees business development for our Valuation & Advisory Team in Taipei. Doris joined Repro Knight Frank because she loves working with a team and achieving common goals. Her role is to ensure clear communication and liaise between both clients and appraisers.

The editorial team has interviewed Doris to find out more about her aspirations and why she deserves to be of our exceptional women this year.

How do you ensure you bring your best every day?

Doris Chen: I am passionate about my work. I like to bear in mind the following concepts:

1.   Make others feel special: I encourage and empower people and make them feel important.

2. Take initiative and be supportive: I take initiative during every task and always try to help those who need to overcome difficulties.

3. Don’t fear: I always have faith that I will make it through any challenges that arise.

4. Always be prepared: I am always prepared and ready to seize any opportunity.

5. Never settle for less: there are moments in life where we must choose to settle or not. I live up to my greatest potential and I don’t give up easily. That is, I bring out my best self by never settling for less.

How do you invest in your personal growth?

DC: There is a saying that goes: "Self-development is invaluable to not only ensure your own success but it also enables us to develop others."- By John Maxwell

I invest in my personal growth in three aspects: knowledge, health, and spirit.

First, I invest in my knowledge by taking courses, attending webinars, and participating in training organised by our company. Those sessions include communication skills, industry development in real estate, leadership, time management, image management amongst others. This enables me to develop myself professionally and enhance my overall productivity in the workplace.

Second, concerning health, I go jogging, hiking, and yoga to remain healthy.

Lastly, I remain positive and always look on the bright side. I face a bad situation by thinking of some advantages that could result from it or reminding myself that the situation is not as bad as it could have been.

Relating to this year’s Women International day theme #BreakTheBias, how do you think you could contribute to breaking the bias?

DC: To break the bias, I increase contact with people who are different from me. People tend to develop unconscious biases based on race, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, marital status, education, and several other factors. We tend to socialise with people that think, or look like us. To solve this problem, I consciously try to interact with people who are different from me. This allows me to see things from different perspectives and very often I come up with better solutions.
